i will always argue for calling out your oppressors, and calling them out hard, without mercy. i will always believe that solidarity means fucking attack, and that it will absolutely never be my duty to educate or hand hold or be polite to people who treat other people like their own personal petting zoo. my opinion on this is never ever going to fucking change.
but i started wanting to end the blog after the ‘gypsy rose’ posts relating to the holocaust museum. i’ve become increasingly frustrated with the gadje followers who reblog these posts in such a rapid fucking hurry, adding their ‘outrage’ in commentary, and that’s it. oh wait, someone recommended a petition. right.
the point is, seeing that much gadje ‘outrage’ disheartened me, instead of buoyed me up. it disheartened me because your outrage is cheap. it’s easy. i watch people get outraged fifteen times a day. people with various privileges can get outraged all the time and the glory of it is, they can forget about in five minutes and they don’t have to do a damn fucking thing. i don’t want to be the one to enable your sense of ‘good worth’, your sense of pride that you’re ‘aware of the gypsy struggles now’, that you were ‘properly outraged’ at the ‘cause’. cause that doesn’t mean shit to me. i don’t need it. i don’t care for it. it’s useless. i refuse to fuel a sense of smugness and ‘getting it’ on top of everything else. i refuse to be a tool so you can feel good about yourselves.

I tried going home again, but as soon as I got there I found a batch of new gypsies camping in my living room. As an added bonus, my roommate was gone.
Fucking gypsies. Those goddamn caravan loving, backpacking, mooching, thieving, lying, stinky pitted, dull witted garbage munching gypsies. Just the fact that my regularly competent roommate feels like its ok to let random bar trash turn my living into a damn halfway house for a week makes my blood boil. The lack of respect is perplexing.

Why is it that when I read something truly horrific about Roma I have a tendency to walk away from it, calm down a little then start doubting myself:
