It depends to which group of people you are referring.

“gypsy” covers a great deal of peoples: Pavee, Irish Traveller, Scottish Traveller, Rroma, Romanichal, Sinti, Kale/Calo, Dom/Domari….

For many our origins are believed to be the same—Northern India.

For others, such as Pavee, a shared historical flight from oppression and violence.
