jejunestarr asked: Today in US History, we were talking about the Holocaust, and the people who were the "undesirables". My history book literally addressed the Romani as "gypsies", and when I asked my teacher why the Romani were considered undesirables, he had no idea what Romani was. I had to specify that I meant "gypsies" in order for him to understand my question. I just thought I'd share this with you because I can't believe a history textbook uses that word, and teachers don't know what the proper term is.

ffs. I wish I could say I’m surprised, but unfortunately people fucking suck sometimes. Unfortunately, a lot of my own (university level political science/history textbooks) use that term and it’s fucking infuriating. Thanks for fighting the good fight and educating your teacher (!!!). <3
